Ceiling reflections
The cross section of a room is nicely suited to locate important points of reflection on the ceiling. The open ceiling area between loudspeaker and listening point can lead to strong, disturbing reflections. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the surface with an absorptive ceiling panel. This must also be included in the overall set of absorptive acoustic elements for the reverberation time calculation. The floor should be made of a sound-reflecting material so as not to make the room sound dull. Floor reflections are often unavoidable. There is also not much that can be done about mixing desk or work reflections. The only thing that can be done is to select the height of the monitor in such a way that reflections from the meterbridge, i.e. they hit the console so flat that they no longer reach the listening point.
